Downtown LA

Downtown Los Angeles highlighted the stark contrast between rich and poor in America. Just blocks away from the astronomically expensive office buildings, you can find one of the biggest congregations of homeless people in America. The further away you get, heading east, the neighbourhoods markedly deteriorate block by block.

My adventure in finding a tailorshop on foot, just outside the downtown area, made the contrast plain to see. After just 5 blocks, the only thing which distinguished the blocks from their South or Latin American equivalents was the occasional LAPD police car driving through.
