Bridge to Port Williams Pictured here is the bridge over the tidal Cornwallis River of Port Williams. Port Williams is a thriving farm community that was originally settled by the MicMac (Meeg'ma) Indians, testifying for the viability and fertility of the location.
Of some interest in this and the next picture of the Cornwallis River is that the banks are fairly red and muddy. This is partly caused by the water - the strong tidal currents cause erosion of the red soils along the shoreline, and this soil is suspended in the water that's flowing in.
